| First day of class |

So today was the first day of my last semester as an undergrad. It's exciting but kind of scary. I finally decided to face my fear and take a public speaking class. I know that it will help me, but I am terrified. I get sick at my stomach when I have to give a presentation for class. I guess the thing that terrifies me most is having all the focus on me, and the fear that I will get up there and sound like an idiot. We have to give 4 speeches, and every day we have to stand up and answer a question of the day. I'm really trying to be a big girl and stay in the class, so hopefully posting this will help motivate me.
On a more fun note I'm also taking a human sexuality class. The professor seems very energetic and I think it will be an interesting class.
I'm hoping this will be a great semester! |

Last night was a truly amazing night and a great victory. I believe that it will be the start of change for our country. But I saw something today that really disturbed me.
On our campus we have a tunnel that pretty much everyone has to walk through to go to class. It's called the free expression tunnel and students can spray paint stuff on it (announcements for clubs or events, or things just for fun). I was walking back from class and I saw that the tunnel was painted completely white. I was really shocked because it's never been painted one solid color since I've been here. There was a poster that said during the night someone, or a group of people had painted hate speech on the tunnel including: KKK.
There were a group of people standing there reading the poster and you could tell that everyone was just stunned. I've been here for over 3 years and I've never seen anything like that on the tunnel. I know that not everyone is happy Obama was elected, but I really didn't expect anything like this. I was just so disturbed that something like this would happen in 2008. I just wish that our country could stop being divided and truly come together as one people. |
